About The Position

Milford Public Schools is seeking Special Education Teachers for Specialized Programs. This is an anticipated vacancy, and the location is to be determined. The teacher provides individualized instruction and supports students’ educational programs in accordance with their Individual Education Plans (IEPs), applicable state and federal requirements, and the least restrictive environment. Requirements

• Current Connecticut Special Education certification (165 or 065) is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized instruction in accordance with students’ Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
• Develop IEPs in compliance with state and federal requirements.
• Conduct assessments to determine students’ eligibility for special education and develop appropriate programs.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, related services staff, and school personnel to design individualized student programs.
• Supervise paraeducators and provide their professional learning.
• Communicate effectively with school staff, families, and outside providers.
• Facilitate Planning and Placement Team meetings and building or department committees as assigned.
• Collect student data and monitor progress toward students’ IEP goals and objectives.
• Implement Behavior Intervention Plans and collaborate with District Behavior Analysts.
• Ensure students receive an appropriate educational program in their least restrictive environment.
