Special Education Paraeducator
About The Position
Paraeducators provide instructional support and deliver other direct services to students under the direction of a certified teacher or other licensed employee. This full-time, benefits-eligible position is based at Clara Barton-Hawthorne Elementary School. The schedule is nine months, Monday through Friday. The position is available immediately. Additional education or experience may be required for specific aide positions. Some positions are supported by Title I funds and require additional education or certification; candidates hired for a Title I position must obtain Title I Paraprofessional Certification before hire or working with students.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing with students, colleagues, and parents or guardians.
- Basic academic and computer skills.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working or volunteering in a school setting.
- Experience working with individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Associate degree in Education, Child Development, Psychology, or a similar field.
- Experience working as a direct support professional, personal care aide, CNA, or in a similar position.
