About The Position

Brightmont Academy is hiring a part-time Special Education Instructor to provide one-to-one instruction to students in grades 1–12. The instructor will use the provided APEX Learning curriculum and make accommodations and modifications based on each student’s IEP. The role is focused on supporting the individual student in the classroom; a case manager handles most administrative duties.

Brightmont’s one-to-one teaching model uses a gradual-release approach to guide students toward mastery. Lesson planning, parent conferences, and grading are not part of the instructor’s workload. Professional development opportunities are available.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• LBS1 certification.
• Patience and empathy when supporting students with different learning needs.
• Genuine passion for teaching.
• Proficiency using G-Suite and learning management software (LMS).
• Ability to provide fingerprints in Arizona or Washington, where applicable, and pass a federal background check.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working in ASD, ED, and/or SLD programs.
