About The Position

The SPD role is part of the Endo Team, focused on high-level disinfection, flexible scopes, and small trays. The position performs high-level disinfection and/or sterilization of equipment and instruments used in clinical and surgical procedures according to the designated processing team. Work includes cleaning equipment and instruments, preparing them for distribution, following processing procedures and manufacturers’ instructions, and supporting timely equipment availability and efficient daily workflow.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• No directly related experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Prior hospital experience.
• Sterile Processing coursework.

Responsibilities

• Clean a variety of equipment and instruments by manual or mechanical means to the appropriate level for patient care.
• Store or assemble instruments into trays and case carts for distribution.
• Disinfect and/or sterilize equipment and instruments using defined processes appropriate to the equipment and its manufacturer's instructions for use.
• Inspect, assemble, and/or test equipment before storage or transportation.
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure equipment is appropriately processed and available in a timely manner.
• Record and report malfunctioning equipment and damaged instrumentation, scopes and endoscopes, and other supplies.
• Participate in quality assurance activities and process improvement projects.
• Contribute to the efficiency of daily workflow.
• Perform high-level disinfection and/or sterilization of equipment and instruments for clinical and surgical procedures according to the designated processing team.
