About The Position

SOSi is seeking qualified, professional, and experienced Spanish interpreters in El Paso, Texas. The interpreter supports a broad range of business activities in a call/contact center environment by meeting customers’ interpretation needs. The role provides interpretation between Spanish and English, including remote services for individuals with limited English proficiency, and may also include sight translation and quality review of translated documents.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience interpreting in a judicial environment.
• Have the legal ability to work in the United States.
• Be highly proficient in English and Spanish vocabulary used in formal, consultative, and casual communication in justice system contexts, including colloquial and regional slang.
• Know specialized English and Spanish legal and criminal justice terminology and immigration procedures.
• Speak English and Spanish fluently, with clear and intelligible pronunciation across language registers, regional colloquialisms, and slang.
• Perform simultaneous, consecutive, and sight translation accurately, without changes, omissions, or additions.
• Preserve the speaker’s tone and emotional level, and manage delivery, speed, and statement length, including projection, pace, and pauses.
• Maintain appropriate speed and projection while interpreting, and request and incorporate clarification only when justified.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with video remote and over-the-phone interpreting.
• Cisco WebEx experience.
• Federal, State, NAJIT, and/or ATA interpretation certification.
• Experience providing interpretation for DOJ Executive Office for Immigration Review court cases.

Responsibilities

• Provide consecutive and simultaneous interpretation between Spanish and English, and vice versa.
• Provide over-the-phone and video remote interpreting for individuals with limited English proficiency as required.
• Perform sight translation by reading written documents aloud in another language.
• Provide quality control review of translated documents as required.
• Perform other duties as required.
