About The Position

The Spanish Interpreter provides translation services and support to non-English-speaking patients and their families during clinical visits. The interpreter works directly with medical staff to facilitate accurate communication and understanding between patients and staff, assists patients with intake forms, and supports the social service intake process. The position may require travel to local agencies or hospitals to provide interpreting services. The listed functions are not all inclusive.

Requirements

• Fluency in spoken, reading, and written Spanish and English.
• Basic computer and data-entry skills.
• Knowledge of cultural barriers to medical care and ability to help diminish barriers on behalf of patients and SCHC.
• Knowledge of medical terminology in Spanish and English.
• High school diploma or GED.

Nice To Haves

• Previous interpreting experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide translation services and support to non-English-speaking patients and their families during clinical visits.
• Work directly with medical staff to ensure accurate communication and understanding between patients and staff.
• Assist patients in completing necessary intake forms at their initial visit, including demographic information, medical history, and financial verification.
• Assist the social service worker and patient in completing the social service intake process.
• Travel to local agencies or hospitals to provide interpreting services as needed.
