About The Position

Metlang, a veteran-owned provider of interpretation, translation, and monitoring services to the law enforcement community, hires Spanish Analytic Linguists to support law enforcement investigations. The role involves monitoring, transcribing, translating, interpreting, and analyzing source material related to investigations into narco-trafficking, counterfeiting, terrorism, fraud, and money laundering. Requirements

• Clear, concise, effective written and spoken communication skills in English and Spanish.
• Ability to summarize and translate audio and text, including slang and colloquialisms, in real time.
• Prior interpreting and/or translating experience in a professional or personal setting.
• Ability to prioritize tasks while demonstrating attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, social media, and text-message terminology in English and Spanish.
• Typing speed exceeding 40 words per minute.
• Ability to adapt under pressure and work cohesively in a team environment.
• Availability to work a rotating schedule.
• Pass writing, reading, listening, and speaking language tests in English and Spanish, or provide prior test results as required by contract.
• Meet eligibility and suitability requirements following a government security background investigation.

Responsibilities

• Monitor foreign-language communications by listening or reading and type summaries in English.
• Transcribe spoken language into written form in the same language.
• Translate spoken or written material from one language into written form in another language.
• Interpret orally, consecutively or simultaneously, from the source language to the target language.
• Examine information methodically and in detail for explanation and interpretation.
