About The Position

ASRC Federal System Solutions (AFSS) is seeking a Spacecraft Technician Harness Fabrication, Senior in Kennedy Space Center, FL. This role involves performing a range of duties in the mechanical, electromechanical, and Facilities GSE when constructing and assembling spacecraft and associated ground support equipment. The technician will read, interpret, and work from blueprints, schematics, engineering documents, work authorization documents, and other written or verbal instructions. They will construct, assemble, troubleshoot, calibrate, adjust, test, diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment, components, subcomponents, devices, and systems in accordance with testing, engineering, and installation instructions. This includes operating related equipment, conducting tests, and reporting data. The role also involves alignment checks, modifications, and replacements as directed, preparing prescribed compounds and solutions, and using various measuring devices such as Micrometers, Calipers, and laser measuring devices. Corrosion control treatments on metal and other corrosive alloys will be carried out, and all required documentation, reports, etc., will be completed, updated, and maintained manually or in digital databases. Recommendations to improve work quality, efficiencies, and productivity are also expected. A significant part of the role includes fabricating flight and non-flight wire harness assemblies, including power, RF, high-speed data, thermal, network, thermocouple, and fiber optic. This requires interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and wire lists, and assembling according to manufacturing work instructions and specifications. Tasks include layout, terminations, crimping, soldering, connector mate/demate, potting, and staking. The technician will conduct continuity and insulation resistance functional tests of harnesses for customer acceptance, and troubleshoot and assist Engineering with solutions, corrective actions, and rework. Operation of processing and test equipment such as Laser Wire ID machine, DMM, network and fiber optic tester, and automated test unit is required. Collaboration with Engineering to resolve production order, design, or component issues is essential. The role also involves training and mentoring technicians with less experience and providing guidance. Basic computer software (Microsoft Office and manufacturing applications) will be utilized, and excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary for providing test results and work status reports.

Requirements

High school diploma, or equivalent experience/combined education, with additional specialized technical training equivalent to a technical Associate degree and/or demonstrated ability to perform assigned technical/para-engineering tasks
2-4 years or more of experience.
Must be a US Citizen
