About The Position

The Specialist, Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with HSE policies, procedures, programs, and regulatory requirements. This position involves developing and maintaining HSE documentation, coordinating training, managing performance tracking, conducting audits, and supporting procurement of safety equipment. The role also involves animating prevention committees and serving as an HSE reference for internal teams and external partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Environment, or a certificate in Health and Safety with relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment in a similar role.
  • Solid knowledge of health, safety, and environment laws and regulations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks.
  • Autonomy, organizational skills, and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in French and functional English (oral and written) for interacting with corporate teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the application of health, safety, and environment policies, procedures, programs, and regulatory requirements, while supporting managers in their implementation.
  • Structure, write, and update HSE documents: procedures, instructions, records, programs, action plans, incident reports, risk analyses, audits, etc.
  • Manage and update all regulatory or corporate documentation, and ensure its distribution to relevant individuals.
  • Prepare required documents for internal, external, or regulatory audits, and support teams during these exercises.
  • Design, review, and maintain internal health and safety training, and coordinate its logistics (schedule, registration, certificate tracking).
  • Develop and disseminate HSE communications (posters, messages, newsletters, prevention campaigns).
  • Contribute to strengthening the HSE culture within the site.
  • Collect and analyze HSE data, track indicators, and prepare required reports.
  • Propose corrective or preventive actions based on observed trends.
  • Conduct or coordinate audits, inspections, floor tours, and risk assessments, and ensure rigorous follow-up of actions resulting from these activities.
  • Serve as an HSE reference for internal teams and external partners.
  • Plan, coordinate, and lead HSE committee meetings.
  • Ensure follow-up of actions and compliance with legal and internal obligations related to the committee.
  • Participate in the procurement of equipment, tools, PPE, and safety devices, ensuring they meet regulatory and corporate requirements.
  • Assist managers in selecting and evaluating new equipment to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Contribute to projects for bringing existing equipment up to standard.
