We are looking for a district process specialist who will play a key role in the continuous improvement of our industrial operations. Through their technical expertise, this person will analyze processes, develop control strategies, and implement adjustments to optimize performance. They will ensure system monitoring, intervene in case of malfunctions, identify root causes, and propose concrete solutions to improve efficiency, stability, and quality, while reducing costs and maintaining a safe and environmentally responsible work environment. In parallel, the specialist will participate in the design of equipment and control systems, drawing on a thorough understanding of the facilities. They will actively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on design, control strategy, and commissioning projects, thus contributing to innovation and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • University degree in mechanical engineering or chemical engineering.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
  • Recognized leadership and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent communication and technical explanation skills.
  • Analytical mind, rigor, and sense of innovation.
  • Experience in technical testing and report writing.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, including MS-Project.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of fluid dynamics, separation, evaporation, heat transfer, thermodynamics, grinding.
  • Experience in advanced control and automation.
  • Training or experience in lean manufacturing and Six Sigma.
  • Skills in multivariate analysis.
  • Knowledge of steam and boiler systems.
  • Experience with OSI PI Vision.

Responsibilities

  • Support district operations
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to process efficiency.
  • Participate in daily production meetings.
  • Analyze performance indicators (KPIs) and address technical issues.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and communicate results.
  • Propose and implement control or equipment modifications.
  • Document procedures and train teams.
  • Technical support for project management
  • Collaborate in the development of design proposals and opportunity dossiers.
  • Participate in equipment selection and the writing of control narratives.
  • Contribute to the creation of training manuals, work instructions, and procedures (SOPs).
  • Deliver training using the 'train the trainer' method.
  • Support project verification and startup phases.
  • Monitor project budget, schedule, and progress.
  • Contribution to the optimization roadmap
  • Identify missing data or instruments.
  • Participate in the selection of analysis and decision-support tools.
  • Support the identification of new equipment or technologies.
  • Collaborate in the development and updating of company standards.
