About The Position

Canada Rail, a joint venture between Keolis Canada and SNCF Voyageurs, is seeking a Rolling Stock Specialist to support technical decision-making, procurement, and risk management. This role will ensure asset performance, coordinate interfaces, and improve maintenance strategies, while also ensuring compliance, safety, and performance monitoring. The specialist will play a key role in the development and delivery of rolling stock for the Alto high-speed train project connecting Quebec City to Toronto.

Requirements

  • Professional Engineer’s degree / Master’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • Understanding of development Projects and railway systems.
  • Understanding of Canadian transit systems and Standards applicable to Rolling Stock (RS) and maintenance depots.
  • Experience in heavy rail operation and maintenance on both high and conventional speed rail.
  • Experience in train design, acceptance, and commissioning.
  • Experience in innovative procurement execution phase.
  • Master complex railway projects, operations, and maintenance.
  • Define rolling stock and maintenance requirements.
  • Manage stakeholders and communicate effectively with partners.
  • Demonstrate project management, negotiation, and assertiveness skills.
  • Show strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Possess advanced English; French is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support train procurement from an OPM perspective.
  • Coordinate OPM interests with other technical teams.
  • Positively influence acquisition, from market analysis to bid evaluation.
  • Promote innovation tailored to the Canadian context.
  • Ensure secure development during and after contract award.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of rolling stock.
  • Optimize maintenance strategies and asset management.
  • Contribute to defining performance (RAMS) and cost targets.
  • Support depot design and operational orientations.
  • Participate in design reviews and evaluate manufacturer proposals.
  • Assess VIA Rail transition activities and local service solutions.
  • Identify synergies between local and high-speed services (skills, training).
  • Support interface management with all stakeholders.
  • Contribute to operational performance and operations-maintenance integration.
  • Participate in transition preparation and evaluation of existing assets.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors on rolling stock and maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance, quality, and skills management for the operator.
  • Support rolling stock acceptance and certification.
  • Define HR strategy (training, retention, skills development).
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and best practices.
  • Contribute to interface management and system integration.
  • Lead O&M initiatives: monitoring, coordination, risk management, and recommendations.
