About The Position

The Sous Chef helps the Executive Chef prepare and cook food and coordinates the activities of cooks and other food-service associates. The Sous Chef assumes responsibility for the kitchen and food-service associates when the Executive Chef is absent. The position is based at Abbott Labs in Tipp City, Ohio, and is scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with nights as needed. The pay range is $20.00 to $25.00 per hour.

Requirements

At least 1 year of supervisory experience.
Ability to perform the position’s essential functions satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

Cook and prepare food according to approved recipes and production standards, meeting deadlines based on production orders.
Supervise hourly food-service associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews, and recommending disciplinary action as appropriate.
Store food in designated areas according to corporate, state, and federal food-safety and sanitation procedures.
Ensure proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and serving temperatures.
Maintain sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils; clean the workstation before leaving and keep display equipment clean during meal service.
Interact with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner and relay relevant information to the supervisor.
Understand daily menu items and explain them accurately to associates and customers.
Keep up with peak production and service hours.
Monitor product and supply inventory and deliveries; track production, consumption, and waste; notify the supervisor when supplies or products are low.
Perform other duties as assigned.
