SOUS CHEF (FULL TIME)
About The Position
The Sous Chef helps the Executive Chef prepare and cook foods, coordinates the activities of cooks and other food-service associates, and assumes responsibility for the kitchen and food-service associates when the Executive Chef is absent. The position is full time at Thomas Jefferson School in Saint Louis, Missouri, with a schedule of Monday through Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Further schedule details are provided during the interview. Pay is $20.00 to $21.00 per hour. Previous scratch cooking and prep experience, and HACCP, are preferred.

Responsibilities
- Cook and prepare food according to approved recipes and production standards, meeting deadlines based on production orders.
- Supervise hourly food-service associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews, and recommending disciplinary action as appropriate.
- Store food in designated areas in accordance with corporate, state, and federal food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Ensure proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and appropriate serving temperatures.
- Maintain sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils; thoroughly clean the workstation before leaving; and keep display equipment clean during meal service.
- Interact with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner and relay relevant information to the supervisor.
- Understand daily menu items and explain them accurately to associates and customers.
- Keep up with peak production and service hours.
- Monitor inventory and deliveries of products and supplies; track production, consumption, and waste; and inform the supervisor when supplies or products are low.
