About The Position

The Dorset, located in Toronto's King West neighbourhood, offers elevated British cooking and cocktails. Inspired by Executive Chef Ryan Lister's English roots, the restaurant features a main floor bar, patio, and a refined upstairs dining room. The menu includes contemporary U.K. fare, superior gin cocktails, fine Scotch, craft ales, and French wines. The Dorset is seeking seasoned, energetic, and passionate individuals to join their team.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years cooking experience in a fast-paced, high performing restaurant
  • Well versed in professional cooking and knife handling skills
  • Able to spend 100% of the time standing

  • Culinary diploma/degree is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Monitor kitchen operations and cleanliness.
  • Build and maintain relationships with fellow cooks and Chefs.
  • Foster a positive experience with FOH teams.
  • Communicate with teams about upcoming menus and events.
  • Manage ordering and inventory.
  • Assist with training and coaching of fellow cooks and Co-op students.
  • Promote the restaurant.
  • Troubleshoot any problems that may arise.
  • Give orders within their section.
  • Work independently.
  • Carry out orders handed down by the Chef.
  • Mentor junior cooks.
