About The Position

CulinArt is hiring a full-time Sous Chef at Manor College in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. The Sous Chef helps the Executive Chef prepare and cook food, coordinates the activities of cooks and other food-service associates, and assumes responsibility for the kitchen and food-service associates when the Executive Chef is absent. The role requires previous culinary experience. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with hours that may vary; further details are provided during the interview. The pay range is $20.00 to $25.00 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Cook and prepare food according to approved recipes and production standards, ensuring deadlines are met based on production orders.
• Supervise hourly food-service associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews, and recommending disciplinary action as appropriate.
• Store food in designated areas in accordance with corporate, state, and federal food-safety and sanitation procedures.
• Ensure proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures.
• Maintain sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils; thoroughly clean the workstation before leaving; and keep display equipment clean during meal service.
• Interact with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner and relay relevant information to the supervisor.
• Understand daily menu items and explain them accurately to associates and customers.
• Keep up with peak production and service hours.
• Monitor inventory and deliveries of product and supplies; track production, consumption, and waste; and inform the supervisor when supplies or product are low.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
