About The Position

MGM Grand Detroit’s TAP restaurant is seeking a Sous Chef to join its fast-paced kitchen team. TAP serves comfort food and pub classics, including burgers, wings, and Detroit House Nachos, in a sports-bar setting with more than 40 HD televisions. The Sous Chef helps deliver a memorable dining experience by overseeing food consistency, kitchen operations, staff, and costs.

Requirements

• Two years of similar food and beverage, chef, and cooking experience.
• Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.

Nice To Haves

• A culinary associate degree or equivalent work experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee product consistency and make modifications as needed based on business requirements.
• Make decisions in collaboration with the Chef and department executives, including decisions about ordering, guest assistance, and front-of-house coordination.
• Manage employee payroll, scheduling, training, and discipline.
• Train master cooks, cooks, pantry workers, helpers, and kitchen workers on their job responsibilities.
• Assist the Executive Room Chef with controlling food and labor costs and establishing goals focused on profit, product, and people.
• Assist with kitchen-related activities involved in the normal operation of the restaurant, menu, and staff.
• Create, read, measure, and execute recipes and new daily specials.
