About The Position

The SEED is a community food project of the Guelph Community Health Centre. About 25% of households in Guelph are food insecure. The SEED’s goal is to change that by offering programs and services while advocating for systemic changes that tackle the root causes of poverty. We are supported by hundreds of amazing community members and by many partner organizations. The Souper Heroes Lead role is to ensure that volunteers have access to the resources that they need to promote both sales of soup and The SEED’s work in the community overall. It is a very collaborative position with shared responsibilities.

Requirements

  • This job is based in Guelph. The successful candidate will be working in various in-person settings, including the Community Food Warehouse, The SEED's Customer Service office, and community locations.
  • Ability to get around is necessary; a G Driver’s license and comfort driving a cargo van is required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends (schedule created in advance, more weekends required Oct-Dec)

Responsibilities

  • Develop an annual plan in partnership with The SEED Manager, CHC Communications Coordinator, and Souper Heroes Lead Volunteer
  • Ensure compliancy and relevance of Souper Heroes Standard Operating Procedures
  • Lead The SEED’s Souper Heroes community fundraising efforts, including: Scheduling a roster of craft markets and in-person sales October-December, including volunteer scheduling
  • Assist in the planning of soup packing and sourcing ingredients to ensure adequate stock
  • Maintaining inventory of supplies and raw ingredients
  • Delivering and managing wholesale and other bulk orders
  • Tracking and reporting all sales
  • Assisting with strategic plans for the fundraiser
  • Lead and attend other in-person outreach opportunities (i.e. Shelldale Community Harvest Event, etc.) as they relate to Souper Heroes
  • Lead an end of season wrap-up event supported by the team of Souper Heroes volunteers
  • Distribute and promote Souper Heroes by deploying outreach materials (printed materials such as posters; inventory/distribution of t-shirts, magnets, stickers, greeting cards etc)
  • Support ongoing and develop new relationships with retail vendors of Souper Heroes
  • Work with SEED Wholesale staff to ensure adequate supply for wholesale orders
  • Lead a team of volunteers
  • Assist with recruiting and retaining Souper Heroes volunteers, both generalized volunteers and volunteer leads
  • Evaluate and track the successes, opportunities, and weaknesses of the program
  • Write a final report
  • Problem solve and share information, working in a team with other SEED staff and volunteers
