About The Position

This position is for a full-time Learning Support classroom serving students with special education needs. Additional training may be required and will be provided in accordance with the parameters outlined in the current collective bargaining agreement.

Responsibilities

Provide one-to-one attention to an assigned student based on Individualized Education Program (IEP) needs, which may include behavioral plans, daily living skills (feeding, etc.), executive functioning skills, organizational skills, data collection, and toileting/diapering.
Supervise students in teacher-planned activities and assist the teacher in monitoring student progress.
Assist students in orderly, safe, and efficient transition between activities.
Provide continuous feedback to the teacher concerning student academic progress, student behavior, and incidents affecting student well-being.
Assist the teacher with classroom management when required.
Monitor field trips, playground activities, testing situations, and pupil activities during periods of free, independent study or seatwork.
Assist the classroom teacher with record keeping.
Operate classroom and office equipment when required.
Assist in securing, preparing, collecting, and inventorying teaching equipment and materials.
Perform other duties, as assigned.
