About The Position

This entry-level, part-time position is based at Fastenal’s distribution center at 940 W Wilbeth Rd, Akron, Ohio. The Sortation employee helps move products through the distribution center to company-owned branches by organizing outgoing orders into totes and pallets for shipping. The role may offer a flexible schedule after onboarding and training, and after performance goals are met. The listed shifts run Monday through Friday, with options from 3:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., noon to 4:00 p.m., or 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., for up to 20 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Use computer programs, RF scanners, and printers to label products.
• Organize shipments into the correct containers.
• Pack products in layers to support stability and efficient use of space.
• Identify fragile products and handle them accordingly.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Comply with health, safety, and sustainability rules and expectations.
• Participate in activities and programs that support company health, safety, and sustainability objectives.
• Learn, pass, and practice environmental health and safety training.
