About The Position

This position is for a Sonography Technologist at Saint Thomas West in Nashville, TN, within the Imaging department. The role is PRN (as needed). The technologist will be responsible for setting up and adjusting equipment, performing ultrasound exams, implementing safety standards, performing quality control, recognizing anatomical structures and pathology, ensuring equipment functionality, and maintaining departmental cleanliness. They will also ensure the prompt submission of high-quality images and documents to PACS and maintain compliance with regulatory agencies.

Requirements

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Registered Radiologic Technologist specializing in Vascular Sonography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Registered Cardiac Sonographer credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Registered or board-eligible for one of following: Diagnostic Med. Sonography, Radiologic Technologist, Sonography, Radiologic Technologist, Vascular Sonography, Vascular Specialist, or Vascular Technologist obtained within 6 months of hire/ transfer.
Registered Sonography Tech specializing in Cardiac credentialed from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Registered Sonography Tech specializing in Vascular Sonography credentialed from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Registered Medical Sonographer credentialed from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) OR Registered Radiologic Technologist specializing in Sonography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical certificate/degree required.

Responsibilities

Set up and adjust all equipment and manually maneuver transducers to perform exams.
Implement safety standards and perform appropriate quality control procedures.
Perform routine and complex studies and assist in a variety of imaging procedures.
Recognize significant structures, artifacts, pathology and equipment limitations.
Ensure equipment is properly functioning.
Report potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel. Lock/tag out equipment if appropriate.
Ensure prompt submission of high-quality of all images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history).
Assist in maintaining a clean, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area and any other areas in department.
Maintain compliance with regulatory agencies.
