Solutions Engineer 5 - Content Promotion & Distribution

Netflix•Los Angeles, CA
•$270,000 - $410,000

About The Position

The Solutions Engineer will join Netflix’s Content Promotion and Distribution team, which drives global content ingestion. The team’s platform authenticates incoming submissions, orchestrates metadata, video, artwork, and availability across downstream services, and validates and conforms partner deliverables for streaming. This role sits between Engineering and partner-facing Operations and Support, helping partners integrate, launch successfully, and operate smoothly at scale. As one of the team’s first Solutions Engineer roles, this position will also help define how the function works. The engineer will assess prospective partners’ technical fit, lead early technical deep dives, establish integration roadmaps, and guide partners through onboarding and delivery. They will troubleshoot integration problems, build lightweight tools and targeted improvements, document and explain platform workflows, and serve as a technical escalation point after launch. They will identify recurring issues, use scripting and automation to reduce manual effort, and bring evidence-based defects and roadmap needs to Engineering and Product.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience integrating or supporting external partners using REST APIs.
  • Fluency with curl, Postman, or similar tools, and comfort debugging JSON payloads and request/response flows.
  • Strong, structured troubleshooting skills, including reasoning through workflows end to end and using logs, dashboards, and traces to isolate faults and escalate with evidence and a concrete next step.
  • Working proficiency in Python or Java and SQL, including writing scripts and queries and reading and debugging an existing codebase well enough to make small integration-specific changes.
  • Clear communication with technical and non-technical audiences; ability to turn ambiguous partner requests into concrete technical plans and keep stakeholders informed during incidents.
  • Comfort with manual, human-in-the-loop work to unblock partners, recognizing when a workaround is needed and communicating what engineers should automate.
  • Practical experience using AI tools to accelerate troubleshooting, documentation, and support, with real examples of results.
  • Curiosity, ownership, and empathy for partners, with a focus on successful partner launches.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with workflow or pipeline systems.
  • Experience with media or metadata ingestion.
  • Experience in media, entertainment, or streaming.
  • Familiarity with digital image specifications, media file formats, and delivery workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate prospective partners for technical fit, lead early technical deep dives, and establish integration roadmaps before onboarding.
  • Guide partners through onboarding and content delivery, resolving schema mismatches and hierarchy errors, creating lightweight custom solutions when standard tools are insufficient, and delivering targeted improvements to unblock launches.
  • Develop targeted scripts, internal tools, and operational documentation to streamline remediation and improve platform observability.
  • Educate internal stakeholders and external teams on platform capabilities, and refine integration guides and scalable workflows.
  • Serve as the primary technical escalation point after launch, tuning observability infrastructure and supporting partner-specific tools.
  • Identify recurring friction and deliver high-leverage improvements that reduce manual steps and issues per launch; use scripting and automation to resolve issues at scale and reduce the need for bespoke engineering work.
  • Bring evidence-based defects and roadmap needs to core Engineering with clear requests, and represent partners’ technical needs in product and engineering discussions.
