About The Position

The Solutions Engineer (SE) role at Cisco is foundational to our customer success strategy. The SE acts as the "CTO" for their accounts, leading technical engagements and driving the strategic direction. They partner with the Sales Account Executive (AE), who acts as the "CIO," to listen, learn, and solve the customer's most complex challenges. The ultimate goal is to propose technology solutions that meet customer needs while hitting business targets and retiring quota. SEs are encouraged to maintain expertise across key domains, including Routing, Switching, Security, Data Center, and Collaboration. Through quarterly learning and certifications, they are challenged to constantly evolve their technical skills. By sharing specific technology affinities and helping others within US Commercial, SEs can gain executive visibility and be recognized as a top engineer. Success is measured by customer success and happiness, meeting and exceeding sales goals, achieving industry certifications, ensuring procured technology is successfully adopted and performs as expected, and acting as the primary point of contact (POC) for all things technical for customers. Effective time management is essential to balance internal and external demands. As we operate in the AI era, SEs are encouraged to use their assigned AI Agent to automate time-consuming tasks so they can focus on their most critical, high-impact goals.
