About The Position

The Cincinnati Insurance Companies' IT Infrastructure department is currently seeking a Senior Storage Engineer. The storage engineer will be responsible for the management, maintenance, monitoring, and architecture of the storage infrastructure. They will ensure proper configuration of all storage components (Example; SAN environment, block, and file storage). They provide technical and engineering expertise in the areas of Storage Technology, related to project planning, design, and engineering of systems. To ensure active engagement in meetings, it is mandatory for all IT associates to have cameras turned on for all interactions with other associates, customers, and stakeholders. Your camera must be on and positioned correctly to clearly show your face. This practice is crucial for maintaining connection and engagement, as non-verbal cues are essential for effective communication. Work location and flexibility are subject to change based on evolving business needs, but generally, selected candidates who reside: within 50 miles of Headquarters may be expected to work in a hybrid capacity, combining remote and onsite work when business needs necessitate. more than 50 miles from Headquarters must be flexible and available to travel to Fairfield, OH, on an occasional basis for special events, training sessions, or key meetings.

Requirements

  • 3+ years’ experience with the planning, designing, configuring and supporting of large enterprise storage environments that include; SAN Networking, block storage, and NAS storage (file storage)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills and ability to take on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • SAN, Data protection planning, forecasting, and full analysis skills
  • Strong technical documentation skills
  • Researches and implements new technology initiatives
  • Primary responsibilities include; both Internal and Customer facing storage infrastructure which includes, but is not limited to, technologies from, EMC (Isilon, DLM), Cisco SAN Switches (MDS9700 series), IBM (DS8000), Infinidat, Commvault
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent work-related experience

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Windows, VMware, Hyper -V and Linux platforms
  • Ability to do Scripting
  • Understanding of SQL and DB2 databases

Responsibilities

  • Provides functional and technical expertise with managing, implementing, and designing data & storage environments
  • Execute solutions for environments such as highly active databases, development, and highly available or disaster recovery environments
  • Provides technical system troubleshooting; Oversight and accountability for resolution of outages, service level issues, and user/customer support needs.
  • Ensures technical documentation is kept up to date (architecture / integration diagrams and documentation)
  • Create and maintain policies and procedures for storage technologies
  • Read detailed specifications, ask appropriate questions to clarify understanding to make recommendations regarding storage types and amounts
  • Provides on call support
