About The Position

AZX is seeking a technical, outcomes-driven Solutions Engagement Manager who works at the intersection of client delivery and engineering. The role embeds with clients to understand the problems they are trying to solve and partners hands-on with engineering to build and ship technical solutions that deliver value. The manager leads technical product work for assigned accounts, clarifying what should be built, why it matters, and how success will be measured, while coordinating project delivery and maintaining a strategic view of how projects support client and company goals. This is not an Engineering Manager role; the position partners with engineering rather than managing it. AZX accelerates positive impact in critical industries through AI transformation, specializing in physics-informed machine learning and enterprise AI solutions addressing climate and sustainability challenges. Its work includes clean energy, decarbonization, climate risk, energy systems, and global economics. AZX describes itself as a fast-growing, profitable, mission-driven company backed by investors focused on AI, climate, and energy. The role is fully remote, with a cluster of teammates in Seattle, and requires travel twice a year for company summits. Applicants must already be authorized to work full-time in the United States; the company cannot sponsor or take over employment visa sponsorship.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of project, program, and/or product management experience leading technology initiatives with mid- to large-size customers.
  • Hands-on experience working with or deploying AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics solutions, and ability to translate between technical and business stakeholders.
  • Strong technical literacy, including ability to engage with engineers on system architecture, APIs, data pipelines, and ML model deployment while maintaining strategic oversight.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering custom-built software and data solutions, rather than only SaaS deployments, with measurable business impact.
  • Domain expertise in at least one of energy, utilities, real estate, logistics, climate, or infrastructure, including understanding of relevant data, regulatory, and operational challenges.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives amid ambiguity and rapid change.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software development practices.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and willingness to work through ambiguous technical problems beyond surface-level answers.
  • Outcome-focused approach, including understanding what a client is trying to achieve before deciding what to build.
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; employment visa sponsorship is not available.
  • Able to travel twice yearly for company summits.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with clients to understand desired outcomes and translate them into clear, actionable direction for engineering.
  • Lead engineers and serve as technical product manager for assigned accounts, defining what should be built, why it matters, and how success will be measured.
  • Review system architecture, evaluate data pipeline designs, assess API integrations, and conduct technical requirements analysis before work is handed to engineers.
  • Constructively challenge unclear or low-value requests and investigate the underlying client need before converting requests into engineering work.
  • Hold the development team accountable to commitments and quality while partnering with engineering rather than managing it.
  • Plan and coordinate project delivery, track budgets, forecast, and monitor workstreams against deliverables.
  • Maintain awareness of how projects support client and company goals.
  • Use and help refine project management processes, tooling, and automation, and provide feedback on operational gaps.

Benefits

  • Competitive early-stage startup compensation based on capabilities, experience, and location
  • Bonus eligibility
  • Health insurance with meaningful coverage for dependents
  • Flexible paid time off
  • Equity
  • Fully remote culture
