Solution Architect
About The Position
Perficient is seeking a hands-on Lead Solutions Architect to direct end-to-end architecture for digital healthcare products using modern cloud ecosystems such as AWS or GCP and Generative AI. The role covers public-facing web portals, secure authenticated member portals, and mobile applications. It combines strategic architecture with hands-on technical execution, including writing and reviewing code and working closely with product managers, business executives, software engineers, and QA. The architect will drive AI adoption across the software development lifecycle, from AI-assisted coding and automated test generation to AI-enhanced architecture design. The role also involves translating business strategy into technical direction, ensuring healthcare security and compliance, and communicating architecture and estimates to stakeholders and review boards. The App Modernization team transforms legacy systems and builds future-ready applications through cloud migration, custom application development, multi-cloud strategies, and modern UI and API integration. The team also applies AI-driven capabilities, including intelligent automation, predictive analytics, and generative development tools, to improve scalability, performance, and user experience.
Requirements
- Proven architectural experience in the healthcare payer domain, including areas such as claims, member management, benefits, provider networks, or digital front door.
- Hands-on experience architecting and deploying resilient, scalable enterprise applications on AWS or GCP, including cloud-native microservices, serverless, managed databases, and containerization via ECS, EKS, or GKE.
- Demonstrated experience using Generative AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, Amazon Q, or Claude/Gemini APIs to optimize software development, code refactoring, testing, and developer productivity.
- Deep hands-on architectural and development mastery of Java and Spring Boot microservices.
- Strong hands-on experience building production applications using React Native and/or Angular for web and mobile platforms.
- Proven experience architecting public-facing marketing sites, authenticated secure portals, and native or cross-platform mobile applications.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with GenAI architectures such as RAG, LLM fine-tuning, and prompt engineering applied to healthcare search or member self-service.
- Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards such as FHIR, HL7, and EDI 837/834.
- Deep understanding of OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, and secure session management for cloud-hosted healthcare applications.
- Hands-on experience with modern CI/CD pipelines integrating automated AI quality gates.
Responsibilities
- Design scalable, resilient, and secure cloud-native architectures on AWS or GCP across mobile, front-end web, API layers, microservices, and healthcare integration systems.
- Champion and integrate Generative AI capabilities throughout the software development lifecycle, including AI-assisted coding, automated code reviews, dynamic documentation, AI-generated unit and integration tests, and synthetic healthcare data generation.
- Maintain substantial daily hands-on coding involvement across front-end stacks such as React Native and Angular and back-end stacks such as Java Spring Boot.
- Translate complex cloud and AI concepts into strategic value for executive business partners and communicate low-level technical details to developers and QA.
- Partner with Product Management to define roadmaps, translate business requirements into technical blueprints, and align QA teams on cloud-native test architecture.
- Ensure cloud and digital solutions comply with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and HITRUST, and implement secure identity management across public and authenticated environments.
- Provide T-shirt and low-level estimates, present estimates and architecture in review boards, and justify them to sponsors and executive leaders.
