Solution Architect, AI & Cloud

About The Position

Advantage Investigations is hiring a Solution Architect, AI & Cloud, for a remote individual-contributor role with a path to broader player-coach leadership. The role reports to the CTO and works with development partners. Candidates in North Carolina, or able to be in Charlotte occasionally, are preferred. During the first six months, the architect will take hands-on ownership of a new AI platform: a Python and FastAPI service on Amazon Bedrock, a React and TypeScript front end, and AWS serverless infrastructure. The platform turns claim referrals—including PDFs, scanned images, and email—into structured cases and recommended investigative services. The role owns the API, infrastructure, and user interface across development, QA, and production, while making AI behavior reliable, measurable, and cost-aware. A person reviews every AI output before it is used. The scope expands to architectural ownership and technical leadership across the company's case-management and video production systems. Case management uses .NET 8, ASP.NET Core, SQL Server, and Vue 3. Video uses a .NET API, Angular, and a Python GPU service on AWS media services. The architect will continue writing production code while setting technical direction, improving engineering practices, coaching engineers, and partnering with operations and leadership on priorities, estimates, risks, and tradeoffs.

Requirements

  • At least 12 years of professional software engineering experience, including technical ownership of production systems rather than design-only work.
  • A player-coach record combining substantial production delivery with technical leadership and mentoring.
  • Strong production experience with C#/.NET and ASP.NET Core, and with Python and FastAPI or a comparable framework.
  • Strong TypeScript experience and experience with at least one of React, Vue, or Angular, with the ability to review work in the others.
  • Deep AWS experience, including ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, RDS or Aurora, CloudFront, SQS, Step Functions, IAM, and VPC networking.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code, containerized deployment, and performance tuning in SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
  • Knowledge of OIDC and OAuth2, JWT, cross-application single sign-on, least-privilege IAM, and secure file handling.
  • Proven ability to modernize a legacy system without stopping business operations.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain tradeoffs to non-engineers.

Nice To Haves

  • Production generative AI experience, ideally with Amazon Bedrock, including multimodal prompting, evaluation, document extraction, and cost control.
  • Video or media pipeline experience, including HLS, MediaConvert, CloudFront signed access, and S3 lifecycle or archival strategies.
  • Computer vision or GPU workload experience, such as InsightFace, ONNX Runtime, CUDA, or GPU containers on ECS.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub workflows, NetSuite, Twilio, or Microsoft Graph.
  • Experience in insurance, claims, investigations, or another regulated domain involving sensitive personal data and evidence.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools to improve individual and team output.

Responsibilities

  • Own the AI platform's API, infrastructure, and user interface across development, QA, and production.
  • Build and operate Python and FastAPI services using Amazon Bedrock, including multimodal models, for document extraction and service recommendations.
  • Maintain AWS infrastructure built with SAM and CloudFormation, including API Gateway, Lambda, Aurora PostgreSQL Serverless, S3, SQS, DynamoDB, and ECS.
  • Guide the React and TypeScript front end, including single sign-on integration with the case-management platform.
  • Make early AI behavior reliable, measurable, and cost-aware, with human review of every AI output before use.
  • Architect the .NET 8 case-management back end and Vue 3 front end, including SQL Server, authentication, and Bedrock-enabled features.
  • Modernize the business-critical case-management platform incrementally without disrupting daily operations.
  • Guide the video API, Angular front end, and Python GPU search service.
  • Shape video media workflows using S3, DynamoDB, CloudFront, MediaConvert, Step Functions, Lambda, and WebSockets, including storage lifecycle and cost.
  • Set reference patterns, coding standards, security baselines, observability, and CI/CD practices across Azure DevOps and GitHub.
  • Lead architecture reviews and prepare design notes and decision records.
  • Own cross-platform integration, including shared single sign-on, case and video linkage, and data flows between systems.
  • Coach engineers, support hiring and onboarding, and improve the team's delivery judgment.
  • Partner with operations and leadership on priorities, estimates, risks, and tradeoffs.
  • Ship AI platform features and fixes independently, make deployments predictable and documented, and address open security-review items.
  • Establish a cross-platform roadmap and achieve measurable gains in reliability and delivery.
