About The Position

Peraton is seeking a Spring and Summer 2027 Solution Architect Co-op to support the County of San Diego Contract from January 2027 through August 2027. Co-op students will work with senior architects to design cloud and AI solutions for County services, including system diagrams, architecture patterns, and AWS-based designs under the AI-DLC framework. The role offers exposure to how enterprise systems are planned before development begins. Peraton serves as the County of San Diego’s IT and telecommunications partner, supporting technology used by County departments serving more than 3 million residents. The co-op will work alongside Peraton professionals on projects to modernize County services, including emerging work applying AI to how software is designed, built, and delivered. The position is based in San Diego, California, with a hybrid work arrangement and a schedule of 40 hours per week throughout the co-op.

Requirements

U.S. citizenship.
High school diploma and some advanced-level training.
Current undergraduate or graduate student who has made progress toward or is pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field; upper-level undergraduate or graduate students preferred.
Understanding of software design and cloud computing fundamentals.
Ability to create technical diagrams and explain design decisions.

Nice To Haves

AWS Cloud Practitioner or Solutions Architect Associate certification.
Familiarity with architecture patterns such as microservices, serverless, and event-driven architectures.
Exposure to AI-DLC, infrastructure as code, or AWS AI services.
Prior software development internship.

Responsibilities
