About The Position

Peraton is seeking a Spring & Summer 2027 Solution Architect Co-op to support the County of San Diego Contract from January 2027 to August 2027. Co-op students will work with senior architects to design cloud and AI solutions for County services, including system diagrams, architecture patterns, and AWS-based designs under the AI-DLC framework. The role provides exposure to how enterprise systems are planned before software development begins. Peraton is the County of San Diego's IT and telecommunications partner, supporting technology used by County departments serving more than 3 million residents. The co-op will contribute alongside Peraton professionals on projects to modernize County services, including emerging work applying AI to software design, development, and delivery. The position is 40 hours per week and uses a hybrid work arrangement based in San Diego, California.

Requirements

U.S. citizenship.
High school diploma and some advanced-level training.
Current undergraduate or graduate student who has completed progress toward or is pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
Understanding of software design and cloud computing fundamentals.
Ability to create technical diagrams and explain design decisions.

Nice To Haves

Upper-level undergraduate or graduate student preferred.
AWS Cloud Practitioner or Solutions Architect Associate certification.
Familiarity with architecture patterns such as microservices, serverless, and event-driven architecture.
Exposure to AI-DLC, infrastructure as code, or AWS AI services.
Prior software development internship.

Responsibilities

Work with senior architects to design cloud and AI solutions for County services.
