About The Position

Huron is seeking a Solution Advancement Engineer to join its Clinical Insights team. The role combines client-facing delivery of healthcare analytics products with core development of the Insights Agent (IAA) platform. The engineer owns Insights applications end-to-end, from data pipelines and application configuration through client quality control, user acceptance testing, and sign-off, while contributing to the IAA platform’s agent architecture and evaluation patterns. The position works directly with healthcare clients and clinical consultants, translating domain needs and feedback into product and platform decisions. It also helps shape the product’s architecture and engineering practices across a small, high-autonomy team. The engineer builds and deploys interactive applications using Python and R/Shiny, works with AWS data lake infrastructure, and maintains Docker-based deployment infrastructure and CI/CD processes. The role supports multiple concurrent client engagements, where requirements can evolve and delivery timelines are tied to client feedback and engagement milestones. The position requires U.S. work authorization and a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience. Huron lists an estimated base salary of $110,000–$150,000 USD and total estimated compensation, inclusive of annual incentive opportunity, of $126,500–$172,500 USD. The role is eligible for Huron benefit plans, including medical, dental, and vision coverage and wellness programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 6 years of software development experience, including full-stack ownership of a production product.
  • Strong proficiency in Python.
  • Working proficiency in R for Shiny-based analytics applications.
  • Experience with LLM- or agent-based application development, such as Pydantic AI, RAG, structured outputs, or comparable agent orchestration frameworks.
  • Experience with Docker and containerized deployment, including rollback procedures and deployment scripting.
  • Proven experience owning a client-facing analytics or software product end-to-end, from data layer through UI and client sign-off.
  • Ability to work independently with ambiguity, manage multi-client context-switching, and iterate quickly based on live client feedback.
  • Strong collaboration and customer-facing communication skills, including ability to run UAT sessions and work directly with clinical stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Healthcare analytics domain experience, such as perioperative, inpatient, emergency department metrics, or operating room utilization.
  • Experience with Posit Connect or similar platforms for deploying R/Shiny analytics products.
  • Experience with AWS data lake architecture, including Athena and S3, or other cloud-based data platforms.
  • Experience with Snowflake or other modern cloud data warehouse platforms.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development processes.
  • Experience in consulting or professional services, where deliverables are client-visible and timelines are tied to engagement milestones.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end delivery of Huron Insights applications across client engagements, from data pipelines and application configuration through client QC, UAT, and sign-off.
  • Lead deployment and configuration of applications across concurrent client engagements, including data translation pipelines, app configuration, quality control, and comparison testing against legacy reporting.
  • Design and build LLM agent capabilities on the Insights Agent platform, including subagent patterns, registry and dispatch architecture, and evaluation frameworks.
  • Build and deploy interactive applications using R/Shiny and Python via Posit Connect and the team’s Docker-based mono repo.
  • Maintain and extend Docker-based mono repo deployment infrastructure, including version tagging, rollback procedures, and Jenkins CI/CD.
  • Work with AWS data lake infrastructure, including Athena, S3, and RDS, to support client data pipelines.
  • Collaborate with healthcare clients and clinical consultants to translate domain requirements, UAT feedback, and stakeholder input into software, architecture, and UX decisions.
  • Drive quality, performance, and delivery speed across simultaneous client engagements with evolving requirements.
  • Mentor other engineers and promote engineering best practices across the team.
