About The Position

GRID Alternatives’ SolarCorps Fellowship Program is an opportunity for highly motivated and enthusiastic community members to join GRID Alternatives for an 11-month paid service term. In this position, you’ll gain valuable experience in the renewable energy and non-profit industries while making significant contributions to communities most impacted by environmental and economic injustice! Our Vision: a rapid, equitable transition to a world powered by renewable energy that benefits everyone. Our Mission: to build community-powered solutions to advance economic and environmental justice through renewable energy. The SolarCorps Fellowship Program is part of the AmeriCorps network of programs. There are a limited number of AmeriCorps fellowships available. GRID Alternatives is a national leader in making clean, affordable solar power and solar jobs accessible to low-income communities and communities of color. GRID is an entrepreneurial, high-growth non-profit organization that provides direct solar installation and project development; clean mobility options; workforce training and service learning opportunities; and low-income solar policy advocacy. We are seeking a full-time SolarCorps Clean Mobility Outreach Fellow to engage with the outreach team and help implement outreach strategy to increase the number of income-qualified clients served in the Los Angeles area. Members will educate underserved communities impacted by environmental and economic injustice about the benefits and cost-savings of renewable energy and electrical vehicles. Members are trained and supervised by GRID's regional outreach managers to support qualifying families through GRID’s solar and electrical vehicle related programs. Members with this experience go on to careers in solar sales, community engagement, and other related roles.

Requirements

  • To be eligible for AmeriCorps fellowships, applicants must be a U.S. citizen, national, or legal permanent resident alien of the United States.
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • 11-month commitment.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to represent GRID Alternatives positively
  • Comfortable being part of a team
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and decision-making skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Interest and enthusiasm for renewable energy, community development, and helping families and communities in need.
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Availability for an in-person Mid-Year weeklong Career Readiness Retreat in California

Nice To Haves

  • Clean, valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Sales or community outreach experience

Responsibilities

  • Lead/support a lead generation campaign to support single family enrollment and Access Clean California clean mobility related programs
  • Support in-person outreach and education efforts, including tabling, door-knocking, flyering, and conducting phone calls to priority audiences
  • Pre-screen leads and follow up as needed
  • Assist in the client application process
  • Research, attend, and speak at community events to educate community members about GRID’s various programs, including Access Clean California and Energy for All
  • Provide follow up with clients post-installation on solar and electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE)
  • Assist in creation of material, including social media posts, flyers, and videos
