About The Position

The SolarCorps Fellowship Program is an 11-month paid service term opportunity for motivated community members to gain experience in the renewable energy and non-profit sectors while contributing to communities impacted by environmental and economic injustice. GRID Alternatives, a national leader in making clean, affordable solar power and solar jobs accessible to low-income communities and communities of color, offers this fellowship as part of the AmeriCorps network. The program focuses on implementing outreach strategies to increase the number of income-qualified clients served, educating underserved communities about the benefits of renewable energy and electric vehicles, and supporting families through GRID’s solar and electric vehicle programs. Fellows are trained and supervised by regional outreach managers and can pursue careers in solar sales, community engagement, and related fields after the fellowship.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizen, national, or legal permanent resident alien of the United States
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • 11-month commitment
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to represent GRID Alternatives positively
  • Comfortable being part of a team
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and decision-making skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Interest and enthusiasm for renewable energy, community development, and helping families and communities in need
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Availability for an in-person Mid-Year weeklong Career Readiness Retreat in California

Nice To Haves

  • Clean, valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Sales or community outreach experience

Responsibilities

  • Lead/support a lead generation campaign to support single family enrollment and Access Clean California clean mobility related programs
  • Support in-person outreach and education efforts, including tabling, door-knocking, flyering, and conducting phone calls to priority audiences
  • Pre-screen leads and follow up as needed
  • Assist in the client application process
  • Research, attend, and speak at community events to educate community members about GRID’s various programs, including Access Clean California and Energy for All
  • Provide follow up with clients post-installation on solar and electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE)
  • Assist in creation of material, including social media posts, flyers, and videos
