About The Position

The Solar Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Technician works in PEARCE Renewables Operations and Maintenance, performing operations and maintenance tasks and physical labor at commercial and industrial solar energy projects across the United States. The role requires regional travel to Distributed Generation sites throughout the Laredo, Texas area. The technician troubleshoots and maintains BESS equipment, performs authorized Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), and supports safe, high-quality, efficient site work.

Requirements

• 3–4+ years of electrical proficiency relating to electrical systems and components.
• Commitment to safety and attention to detail, including the ability to recognize potential issues and provide safe solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal skills to meet internal and external Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) requirements.
• Ability to comply with OSHA standards.
• Valid driver's license held for at least one year.

Nice To Haves

• 3–4+ years of renewable energy experience.
• Post-secondary education.
• Electrical certifications such as OSHA 10, OSHA 30, and NFPA 70E.
• Residence in the Laredo, Texas area.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on Battery Energy Storage System equipment.
• Perform Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) as an authorized person and under properly performed LOTO conditions.
• Conduct daily safety and task planning discussions, including pre-task planning, Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs), and Risk Assessments (RAs).
• Interact professionally with vendors and customers.
• Support site work as a team member, which may include supervising field work onsite with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Adapt to specific duties that may vary or evolve based on business and client needs.
