About The Position

We are seeking a meticulous and proactive Software Test Specialist to join the Unified Platform team, which is responsible for providing the mission-critical components powering Genetec's premier products. Our focus includes strong software security, high system availability at scale, data loss prevention, and backward/forward compatibility. The ideal candidate will ensure the quality and reliability of backend systems and services by performing detailed manual testing, identifying issues, and collaborating with developers and stakeholders to improve system functionality. We operate as multi-disciplinary teams organized around Kanban agile methodology, and we are looking for a strong Software Test Specialist with a passion for backend testing of large-scale applications. This is a role for someone who thrives in a complex, challenging, and constantly changing environment. Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in manual software testing, preferably in backend systems
• Strong understanding of backend architecture, databases, and data flow
• Experience working with Linux/Unix environments, including basic command-line usage, navigation, and troubleshooting
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerized environments
• Proficiency with Microsoft SQL and PowerShell scripting
• Ability to read and analyze system logs, including performance metrics, and debug backend issues
• Experience working with and troubleshooting in a Windows Server environment
• Excellent analytical skills combined with strong troubleshooting capabilities to resolve issues effectively
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams
• Fluent in French and English, both verbal and written (this role requires interaction with our international collaborators and customers)

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Git for version control and teamwork in coding projects
• Familiarity with C# and the .NET framework
• Advanced Linux/Unix scripting and system administration experience

Responsibilities

• Validate new and existing functionalities of Genetec's flagship product, Security Center. A unified platform responsible for ensuring the physical security of small to large organizations through IP video surveillance, access control, and license plate recognition
• Design, create, and execute manual test cases for backend systems and databases
• Perform functional, integration, regression, and system testing to validate backend processes and ensure performance and scalability
• Identify, document, and track software defects in a structured manner
• Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and other team members to understand system requirements and design testing strategies
• Verify data flow across backend systems and ensure system integrity
• Analyze system logs, including performance metrics, database operations, and responses to uncover potential issues and bottlenecks
• Utilize tools and scripting with PowerShell to streamline testing workflows
• Prepare and deliver test summary reports and documentation
• Contribute to improving the testing process and tools to ensure efficiency and reliability
