The Launch Control Systems team is responsible for designing, building and testing the software, hardware and networking systems that will be used to launch the next generation rocket for NASA. As part of the Triage team, you will be responsible for system analysis, troubleshooting and testing of the next system to launch NASA astronauts into space. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, driven to learn, and a self-proclaimed problem solver in a complex computer/IT environment. Description: The specific tasks you will be responsible for include but are not limited to: Provide Systems Engineering Triage support to the Launch Control System (LCS) Development and Operations in the following areas: Troubleshoot software and hardware on Firing Room development and operational sets Provide short term basic guidance to users Collect data from the user environment Analyze collected data from anomalies Document anomalies Communicate set status/issues to users, managers, and technical staff Responsible for analyzing, understanding and working with a variety of in-house developed and commercial software packages. Responsible for identification of dependencies and characteristics of software applications and hardware at all levels of the OSI model. Requires the ability to interpret written information and effectively communicate verbally and in writing. May be required to provide verbal status to management on occasion.
Requirements
- BS degree from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of progressive, relevant experience or 6 years of directly related IT experience. Additional education may be substituted for experience. Prefer Software Engineering, Computer Science or related 4 year degree.
- Requires knowledge of software development and systems engineering.
- Requires experience troubleshooting in client/server architectures and in the integration, debugging, and troubleshooting of software releases.
Nice To Haves
- System Administration in a UNIX environment is a bonus.
- Experience in C++, Java, Perl, Python, expect, shell scripting, or XML is a bonus.
- Knowledge of Network/Enterprise monitoring/management tools such as HP Operations Manager, NNM, SNMP, Wireshark is a bonus.
