About The Position

Amyx is hiring a Software Systems Engineer to define specifications for complex operating software applications and modify or maintain existing applications using engineering releases and manufacturer utilities. The role provides advanced technical expertise in software systems programming and analysis, and designs software, hardware, and communications architectures that meet current and future cross-functional requirements and interfaces. The engineer ensures systems comply with open-systems and Department of Defense architecture standards, identifies options for meeting functional and technical requirements, and assesses hardware and software updates or upgrades. The role works with project management on schedules and technical direction, develops high-level system design diagrams, and performs program design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation. It also includes directing and reviewing other task personnel, quality assurance, software product evaluation, operating-system maintenance, and support across software systems programming phases. The position requires the ability to communicate accurate information. Physical demands include extended periods at a workstation and using a desktop or laptop computer, handling objects or controls, reaching, talking, and hearing. Occasional lifting or moving of moderate weight, typically under 20 pounds, may be required. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.

Requirements

Ten years of experience in systems engineering and software development.
Experience with MicroStrategy or business intelligence platforms, analytics, data modeling, and dashboard design.
Experience implementing modern security solutions, such as blockchain or related cryptographic research.
Relevant certification from a nationally recognized technical authority.
Must possess IT-II Non-Critical Sensitive security clearance or Tier 3 (T3) at the time of proposal submission.
Ability to communicate accurate information.
Ability to meet the described physical demands, including extended workstation and computer use and occasional lifting or moving of weight typically under 20 pounds.
Regular and predictable attendance.

Responsibilities

Formulate and define specifications for complex operating software applications, and modify or maintain existing applications using engineering releases and manufacturer utilities.
Provide top-level technical expertise, including complex software systems programming and analysis.
Design software, hardware, and communications architectures to meet current and future requirements and interfaces.
Ensure systems comply with open-systems standards and DoD architectures; identify, assess, and present options for meeting functional and technical requirements, including hardware and software updates or upgrades.
Coordinate with project management to plan project schedules and technical direction.
Develop high-level system design diagrams and perform program design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.
Instruct, direct, and review the work of other task personnel.
Conduct quality assurance reviews and evaluate existing and new software products.
Provide operating-system maintenance, including sophisticated file maintenance routines, large telecommunications networks, computer accounting, and advanced mathematical or scientific software packages.
Assist with all phases of software systems programming applications.
Communicate accurate information.
