About The Position

WISI is seeking a local, final-year student with a passion for software development to join their QA team as a Software QA Test Engineer (Co-op). This role will contribute to achieving full CI/CD test and deployment automation for WISI's carrier-grade video transcoder product, which is utilized in data centers by cable and video providers. The position offers hands-on experience with embedded firmware, front-end UI applications, and advanced testing methodologies such as black-box, white-box, and chaos engineering. The co-op student will gain experience with tools like Jenkins, Python, and Selenium, and will collaborate closely with experienced developers and QA professionals. Requirements

  • Final-year undergraduate student in Computer Science or Engineering, ideally with an interest in pursuing a career in software development eventually
  • Strong experience with Python, Java, Bash scripting
  • Must reside in the Greater Vancouver area and be able to commute to Pitt Meadows (vehicle required).
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with C/C++, Selenium, and real-time embedded systems is a plus
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins) is an asset
  • Full-time in-office may be required during onboarding.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain automation tools and scripts for deployment and testing.
  • Define and maintain test plans and strategies based on project goals.
  • Write clean, reliable, and maintainable code that supports testing efforts.
  • Manage tasks, timelines, and resources effectively.
  • Track product quality metrics and report defects with clarity.
  • Partner with developers and QA leads to enhance product robustness.
