About The Position

Applied Materials is hiring a Software QA Engineer to test and improve the quality of software products. The role debugs moderately complex products using systematic tests, develops and maintains quality standards, and tests code and enhancements. Under general supervision, the engineer develops, modifies, and executes test plans; analyzes and writes test standards and procedures; documents test results; and reviews results to verify existing functionality and recommend corrective action. The role also consults with development engineers to resolve problems, provides feedback for technical appraisals of programming languages, systems, and computation software, and helps ensure quality computer integration with scientific computation, data acquisition, and processing. The position has no supervisory responsibilities but provides informal guidance to new team members. It involves travel 10% of the time and is relocation eligible.

Responsibilities

Debug moderately complex software products using systematic tests and maintain quality standards for company products.
Perform software tests on code and enhancements.
Develop, modify, and execute software test plans under general supervision.
Analyze and write test standards and procedures.
Maintain documentation of test results to assist with debugging and software modification.
Analyze test results to verify existing functionality and recommend corrective action.
Consult with development engineers to resolve problems.
Provide feedback in preparation of technical appraisals of programming languages, systems, and computation software.
Ensure quality computer integration with scientific computation, data acquisition, and processing.
Provide informal guidance to new team members.
