About The Position

Copart is seeking a curious, driven Software Engineering Intern to join its Title Transfer Services team, which supports vehicle ownership and title transfer processes. The intern will contribute to a strategic re-architecture, helping build modern, scalable services and Java and React full-stack applications. The work includes exploring how agentic AI can automate and optimize operational processes, using AI coding agents as part of the development workflow, and contributing to systems that support Copart's business operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, completed or in progress; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience building agentic AI applications through personal, academic, or professional projects, such as agents that plan, call tools or APIs, or run multi-step workflows; applicants should share links or descriptions.
  • Regular use of AI coding agents in development, with the judgment to review, test, and take ownership of their output.
  • Strong programming fundamentals in at least one backend language such as Java, Python, Go, or C#.
  • Exposure to frontend development with a modern JavaScript framework such as React, Vue, or Angular.
  • Understanding of software design principles such as SOLID, DRY, and KISS, and common design patterns.
  • Understanding of RESTful API design.
  • Familiarity with relational databases and data modeling.
  • Experience with version control using Git and exposure to CI/CD practices.
  • Passion for learning and staying current with technology trends and best practices.

  • Experience building agents in Python.
  • Exposure to Google's Agent Development Kit (ADK) or similar agent frameworks.
  • Exposure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or another major cloud platform.
  • Familiarity with agent concepts such as tool calling, retrieval, multi-agent orchestration, and evaluating agent behavior.
  • Interest in modular monolith architectures and the tradeoffs between monoliths and microservices.
  • Exposure to Domain-Driven Design concepts.
  • Experience with Docker and containerization.
  • Background in automotive, logistics, or document processing domains.
  • Experience with test-driven development (TDD).
  • Side projects, open-source contributions, hackathons, or experimentation with different technology stacks.
  • Active participation in technology communities, conferences, or online learning.

  • Help design RESTful APIs and patterns for communication between modules.
  • Contribute to technical discussions about tooling, frameworks, and system design.
  • Build and maintain features across Java, Spring Boot, and React applications.
  • Use AI coding agents to accelerate development, while reviewing, testing, and taking ownership of generated code.
  • Build responsive user interfaces and robust backend services.
  • Write tests and clean, well-documented code that follow engineering principles and design patterns.
  • Participate in code reviews and give and receive constructive feedback.
  • Help build and prototype AI agents to automate and optimize title transfer processes and operational workflows.
  • Identify opportunities to use AI and automation to reduce manual work and improve efficiency.
