About The Position

As a Senior Software Engineer at Walmart, you will lead the delivery of scalable, secure software solutions by collaborating with cross-functional teams. You will drive the full software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, and deployment, while integrating advanced AI and machine learning components. This role demands strong technical judgment, continuous improvement, and proactive problem-solving to meet business objectives. You will mentor peers, contribute to platform innovation, and ensure high-quality outcomes that align with Walmart’s standards, supporting a culture of engineering excellence and operational reliability. The Global Security & Investigations Technology team develops scalable platforms to anticipate and manage security and operational risks. Utilizing AI-driven innovation and strong engineering practices, the team supports investigators, security operators, and aviation units with advanced technology to improve decision-making and automate workflows. The Global Governance team manages company-wide security applications, standards, and processes, delivering high-quality solutions through collaborative engineering. Team members engage in design, development, deployment, and mentoring while partnering across functions to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence on a global scale.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in object-oriented programming and documentation-based coding practices.
  • Strong technical acumen with experience in code review, debugging, and continuous development.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver scoped features through iterative and incremental development.
  • Experience integrating AI/ML components and leveraging generative AI tools to enhance software solutions.
  • Skilled in designing scalable, secure, and maintainable software aligned with platform objectives.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Commitment to engineering excellence, continuous improvement, and delivering high-quality software products.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Own delivery of scoped features and models through collaborative engineering teams, ensuring alignment with platform and system goals.
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code across multiple languages, driving the full software development lifecycle, including CI/CD and automated testing.
  • Integrate AI/ML components and leverage GenAI tools to enhance software capabilities and development efficiency.
  • Participate in solution design, conduct code reviews, and apply sound technical judgment to build scalable, secure systems.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical requirements and measurable outcomes.
  • Monitor application performance, support defect resolution, and promote continuous improvement and innovation.
