About The Position

The Transactions Checkout Team is part of the Pre-Purchase Organization within Customer Experience Platforms, focusing on delivering fast, reliable, and seamless checkout journeys across Walmart’s mobile experiences. The team owns critical pre-purchase and checkout capabilities including cart review, promotions, payments, and order placement, ensuring customers can confidently complete transactions at scale. Immigration Sponsorship support will NOT be available for this position. Working at the intersection of customer experience and platform engineering, the team partners closely with Product, Design, Payments, and Backend Platform teams to reduce friction, improve conversion, and maintain high reliability across Walmart’s mobile apps. As part of the Pre-Purchase org, the Checkout team plays a key role in shaping how customers experience Walmart before they place an order, supporting innovation while meeting the performance demands of the world’s largest retailer.

Requirements

  • 5+ years building iOS apps with Swift and SwiftUI
  • Strong expertise in UIKit, iOS SDK, MVVM, VIPER, Clean Architecture, and Coordinators
  • Hands-on with Swift Concurrency (async/await) and Combine
  • Experience integrating with REST and GraphQL backend APIs
  • Solid grasp of design principles, data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems
  • Strong debugging, performance monitoring, memory management, and stability optimization skills
  • Proficient in unit/UI testing, CI/CD pipelines, and code reviews
  • Familiar with Cocoa Pods, Swift Package Manager, and Carthage
  • Ability to translate designs into pixel-perfect UIs with Auto Layout and SwiftUI
  • Excellent communication and collaboration in cross-functional, fast-paced environments
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and joining us as we continue to create accessible products and services following Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

  • Build and scale high-performance iOS checkout experiences for Walmart
  • Lead medium-to-large iOS engineering initiatives using Swift and SwiftUI
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, Backend, Payments, and Platform teams
  • Own production stability through root-cause analysis and issue prevention
  • Integrate iOS with distributed backend systems via REST and GraphQL
  • Lead design and code reviews; mentor engineers
  • Deliver reliable features for peak retail events
  • Use data and experimentation to reduce friction and improve conversion
