About The Position
The Senior Software Engineer will lead the delivery of scoped features and models through collaborative teams, ensuring alignment with platform and business objectives. This role involves designing, developing, testing, and maintaining scalable software solutions using Python and modern development practices. The engineer will integrate AI/ML components, drive continuous improvement, and support operational excellence through proactive monitoring and debugging. Strong technical judgment, effective collaboration, and a product-driven mindset are essential to deliver high-quality software that meets stakeholder needs and advances Walmart’s technology goals. The team addresses complex business and technical challenges within Growth Tech by utilizing advanced AI coding agents throughout planning, design, implementation, testing, and operations. They establish standards for scalable, reliable, and secure production systems at the intersection of software engineering, data, and AI. Delivering valuable insights to suppliers and merchants, the team develops platforms for intelligent automation, including agent orchestration and customer-facing AI solutions. Emphasizing rapid iteration and adaptive systems that learn from usage, the team promotes collaboration and continuous improvement to drive innovation in a dynamic environment.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in software development with proficiency in Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, Rust, Dart, and C++.
- Strong expertise in object-oriented programming, code review, debugging, and documentation-based coding practices.
- Proven ability to deliver scoped features and models through iterative development and continuous integration.
- Demonstrated skills in AI/ML integration and leveraging generative AI tools to enhance development efficiency.
- Solid understanding of platform design, product strategy, and component services aligned with business objectives.
- Experience in DevOps, automated testing, monitoring, and maintaining high-quality software systems.
- Effective collaboration and communication skills to work across teams and mentor peers.
- Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
- Option 2: 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.
- Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.

Responsibilities
- Own scoped feature and model delivery through collaborative engineering teams, managing implementation, iteration, testing, and support.

- Participate in design reviews, ensuring scalable, secure, and maintainable software aligned with platform standards.
- Conduct code reviews, debugging, and defect management to maintain high-quality deliverables.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical requirements and measurable outcomes.
- Monitor application performance and support continuous integration and deployment practices.
- Mentor peers and contribute to engineering best practices and innovation strategies.
