About The Position

This role focuses on owning scoped feature or model delivery through collaborative engineering teams, managing implementation, iteration, testing, and ongoing support for assigned services, APIs, user interfaces, or ML model components. The engineer will operate with a product-driven mindset, aligning outcomes with broader platform, system, and domain objectives. Key responsibilities include writing clean, efficient, and reliable code in various languages, driving the full software development lifecycle (CI/CD, automated testing, observability, monitoring, maintenance), and building automation scripts. The role also involves integrating AI agents and ML components, leveraging GenAI tools, and applying object-oriented programming principles. The engineer will assist in converting high-level designs into detailed designs, evaluate trade-offs for scalable and secure systems, and participate in design reviews. Additionally, the role requires engaging stakeholders to define problems, translating pain points into technical requirements, and defining success metrics. DevOps responsibilities include conducting maintenance, monitoring application performance, and ensuring adherence to project milestones. The position promotes engineering excellence, technical ownership, sound technical judgment, adaptability, and collaboration. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Responsibilities

  • Owns scoped feature or model delivery through collaborative engineering teams.
  • Manages implementation, iteration, testing, and ongoing support for assigned services, APIs, user interfaces, or ML model components.

  • Writes clean, efficient, and reliable code using languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, Rust, Dart, and C++.
  • Drives full software development lifecycle, including CI/CD deployments, automated testing, observability, monitoring, and maintenance.
  • Builds scripts for the automation of repetitive tasks and implements telemetry features independently.
  • Conducts code structure reviews and supports ongoing defect management and debugging processes.
  • Integrates AI agents and ML components using internal and external APIs to enhance software intelligence.
  • Leverages GenAI tools such as GitHub Copilot to improve development velocity and innovation.
  • Applies object-oriented programming principles and documentation-based coding practices to ensure modularity, maintainability, and consistency.
  • Assists in converting high-level designs into detailed designs using mock screens, pseudo code, and functional logic.
  • Evaluates trade-offs and designs scalable, secure, and maintainable software systems aligned with Walmart’s standards.
  • Participates in design reviews and ensures the implementation of appropriate design patterns and principles.
