About The Position

Cisco Silicon One™ is Cisco’s silicon architecture powering web-scale, cloud, service provider, enterprise, and AI networking infrastructure. The Silicon One Software team develops the SDK software stack for its high-performance silicon products. The Software Engineer will design, build, and operate practical AI tools that help people find information, automate tasks, and integrate AI into their workflows. This is an onsite role in San Jose, California; the team may offer hybrid days, but the selected finalist is expected to work onsite. The role focuses on AI-powered document query and knowledge-retrieval systems, user-facing Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and agentic tools, engineering workflow automation, and AI capabilities for networking domains. Specialized tools and models may support switch telemetry analysis, network simulation environments, and P4 language development.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with agent frameworks and LLM tool-calling architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with vector databases and semantic search/RAG pipelines.
  • Familiarity with OpenAI or Anthropic model APIs, open-source model inference platforms such as vLLM or Ollama, model request routing, or LLM fine-tuning techniques.
  • Domain knowledge in networking technologies, switch telemetry analysis, network simulation environments, or P4 programming.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build AI-powered document query and knowledge-retrieval systems.
  • Develop user-facing Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and agentic tools.
