About The Position

As a Senior Software Engineer at Walmart, you will lead the delivery of scalable software solutions by managing feature implementation, testing, and ongoing support within collaborative teams. You will apply advanced programming skills and technical judgment to design, develop, and maintain high-quality systems aligned with business objectives. This role involves integrating AI/ML components, driving continuous improvement, and mentoring peers. You will engage with stakeholders to translate complex requirements into effective solutions while ensuring operational excellence through proactive monitoring and adherence to development best practices. About the team: The ads team advances Walmart’s e-commerce advertising by delivering sophisticated targeting, optimization, and reporting solutions. Combining deep data insights with intuitive platforms, the team enables informed decision-making for advertisers. Members apply cloud-native architecture and software design principles to build scalable, resilient systems. They engage in full software development lifecycle activities, including design reviews, prototyping, and DevOps engineering. Collaboration across teams ensures alignment with business goals and technical excellence. The team emphasizes continuous improvement by leveraging data-driven practices and innovative tools to enhance platform capabilities and support Walmart’s mission to deliver value through technology.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in full stack software development with proficiency in languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, Rust, Dart, and C++.
  • Strong technical acumen in object-oriented programming, documentation-based coding, and debugging practices.
  • Experience delivering scoped features through iterative development, including code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD deployment.
  • Ability to design scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions aligned with platform and business objectives.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML integration and generative AI tools to enhance software intelligence and development efficiency.
  • Effective collaboration skills to engage cross-functional teams and translate complex requirements into technical solutions.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, and mentoring within engineering teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.

Responsibilities

  • Own delivery of scoped features and models through collaborative engineering teams, managing implementation, iteration, testing, and support.
  • Write clean, efficient, and reliable code across multiple languages, driving full software development lifecycle including CI/CD and automated testing.
  • Integrate AI/ML components and leverage generative AI tools to enhance software intelligence and development velocity.
  • Participate in solution design, conduct code reviews, and ensure scalable, secure, and maintainable systems aligned with platform objectives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical requirements and define success metrics.
  • Monitor application performance, support defect management, and promote continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
