About The Position

Curotec is seeking a mid-level Software Engineer to independently build and maintain intelligent automation solutions for healthcare Revenue Cycle Management (RCM), specializing in computer vision-driven robotic process automation. The engineer will own discrete features and automation modules end-to-end, using Python with a strong emphasis on OpenCV, image-based desktop automation, and OCR. The role also includes Selenium-based browser automation when required, collaboration across teams, and sharing technical knowledge with less experienced engineers. The position involves designing computer-vision automations for RCM workflows, automating legacy desktop and thick-client applications without APIs or DOM access, extracting structured data from healthcare documents, and integrating solutions with billing software, EHR systems, and healthcare portals. The engineer will apply AI/ML techniques, use Azure services to support scalable automation, and ensure solutions comply with healthcare privacy and security requirements. They will document, monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize automations, including workflows running in legacy, Citrix/virtual, and modern web environments.

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in Python programming.
  • Hands-on production experience with OpenCV for image recognition, template matching, and visual data extraction.
  • Experience with image-based desktop automation libraries such as PyAutoGUI and applications that expose no API or DOM.
  • Working experience with Selenium for browser-based automation.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare RCM workflows, such as billing, coding, claims, and denial management.
  • Solid understanding of HIPAA and healthcare security best practices.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and documentation skills.
  • Effective communication with technical and non-technical teams.
  • Proficiency with version control tools such as Git.
  • At least 2 years of professional software development experience in Python or a closely related language.
  • Ability to ramp quickly in a contract engagement and deliver production work with limited onboarding.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complex data and workflow scenarios, including non-deterministic visual environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Practical experience with OCR engines such as Tesseract or PaddleOCR, or cloud document-intelligence services.
  • Experience automating applications inside Citrix, RDP, or other virtualized/remote environments where image-based control is required.
  • Practical experience applying AI/ML tools such as NLP or predictive modeling to automation use cases.
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to automation of healthcare revenue cycle workflows, including eligibility, claims processing, payments, and denials management.
  • Experience integrating with third-party healthcare software, including EHR/EMR systems and billing software.
  • Familiarity with EHR/billing systems and healthcare web portals.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure or other cloud platforms, such as Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Key Vault, or App Services.
  • Experience developing APIs or integrating with third-party APIs.
  • Working knowledge of logging, alerting, or observability tools.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain OpenCV-driven automations for RCM workflows, including image recognition, template matching, document understanding, and visual element detection.
  • Own end-to-end automation of legacy desktop and thick-client applications using image-based control when no API or DOM is available.
  • Use OCR and document-parsing techniques to extract structured data from scanned EOBs, remittance advices, correspondence, and payer documents.
  • Build and maintain Selenium automations for payer portals, EHR web interfaces, and other browser-based workflows.
  • Deliver robust Python automation scripts for RCM processes with limited supervision and follow team coding standards and review practices.
  • Apply AI/ML techniques such as OCR, NLP, and predictive analytics to improve automation quality and process outcomes.
  • Integrate automation solutions with billing software, EHR systems, and healthcare web portals.
  • Ensure automation adheres to healthcare data privacy and security regulations, including HIPAA.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for owned automation workflows.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize automations for accuracy, efficiency, and reliability, particularly CV-based workflows affected by UI drift and image variability.
  • Build resilient workflows that work with legacy desktop systems, Citrix or virtual environments, and modern web platforms.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and operations teams to translate manual workflows into digital automation.
  • Maintain secure credential handling, logging, and audit trails consistent with HITRUST/HIPAA compliance.
  • Use Azure services such as Azure Functions, Azure Storage, and Key Vault to build scalable automation.
