Software Engineer - Infrastructure
About The Position
As a Software Engineer on the Data Platform team, you will design, build, and maintain the core data infrastructure that powers Baton's near real-time streaming platform. You will own data pipelines end to end, from ingestion through processing to consumption, and work with data stakeholders across engineering, product, and machine learning to turn complex data challenges into scalable, maintainable solutions. Baton's data platform supports intelligent freight operations at Ryder scale. In this role, you will take ownership of the streaming and messaging architecture, contribute to data model development, and refine the API layers that make data available across the organization. You will work with a high-trust, high-autonomy team, operate in production from day one, and build systems that affect how Ryder and its 50,000+ customers plan and execute freight.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain the core data infrastructure for Baton's near real-time streaming platform.
- Own data pipelines end to end, from ingestion through processing to consumption.
- Work with engineering, product, and machine learning stakeholders to develop scalable, maintainable solutions to data challenges.
- Own the streaming and messaging architecture.
- Contribute to data model development.
- Refine API layers that surface data across the organization.
- Operate production systems and build systems that support freight planning and execution.
