Software Engineer, Reliability Platform

DoorDash•San Francisco, NY

About The Position

The Software Engineer will join DoorDash’s Reliability Platform team, which builds systems that help engineering groups across DoorDash-owned brands manage service reliability without needing to become reliability experts. The team’s capabilities include defining and measuring service level objectives (SLOs), providing insights to speed investigations, and supporting incidents from declaration through root-cause analysis and postmortem. Its long-term vision is to use reliability data and insights to continually improve reliability across the global engineering organization. In collaboration with peers across Infrastructure and Product, the engineer will design, build, and operate software and infrastructure for mission-critical backend services and pipelines, complex orchestration workflows, self-service platform capabilities, and agentic intelligence. The work includes unifying global incident-management processes and tooling, measuring SLO compliance and quality across tens of thousands of endpoints, building an internal SRE Agent with team- and domain-specific knowledge, and enabling agentic use of Reliability Platform data and tools through MCP. The role also explores AI-assisted operations that can propose, validate, and safely execute production changes.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in infrastructure, platform, or backend engineering.
  • Fluency in Go or a similar programming language.
  • Ability to design and deliver scalable, resilient, performant, and efficient mission-critical services.
  • Comfort with AWS primitives, security best practices, containerization, and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi.
  • Understanding of SLOs, error budgets, and incident response.
  • Willingness to use AI tools to improve engineering productivity, including coding, planning, and supporting peers.
  • A platform engineering mindset focused on APIs, abstractions, workflows, and systems used by other engineers.

Nice To Haves
