About The Position

Senior Software Engineer for International Promotions and Rewards. Promo Engine is a real time transaction "rewards" service that supports acquisition and retention of customers at scale by providing automated incentives such as trial membership, installment plans, free shipping, order discounts, and more to targeted customers. In this role you will lead and participates in medium- to large-scale projects by reviewing project requirements, translating requirements into technical solutions, gathering requested information (e.g., design documents, product requirements, wireframes), writing and developing code, conducting unit testing, communicating status and issues to team members and stakeholders, collaborating with project and cross-functional teams, troubleshooting open issues and bug fixes, ensuring on-time delivery and hand-offs, interacting with the project manager to provide input on the project plan, and providing leadership to the project team.

Requirements

  • Strong core Java and J2EE knowledge
  • In-depth understanding of Java Spring, Spring Boot applications
  • Hands-on knowledge of building large-scale microservices for highly scalable and robust platforms
  • In-depth understanding of NoSQL database implementations, like Cosmos, MongoDB, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of messaging systems like Kafka
  • Hands-on knowledge and experience with cloud systems like Azure, GCP
  • Clear understanding of design principles for building large-scale, robust platforms
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in medium- to large-scale engineering projects by analyzing business and technical requirements, developing solution designs, and translating requirements into scalable technical implementations.
  • Gather and evaluate project artifacts, including design documents, product requirements, technical specifications, and wireframes to support solution development and project execution.
  • Design, develop, test, and implement high-quality code while ensuring adherence to coding standards, performance expectations, and project requirements.
  • Conduct unit testing and validation activities to ensure solution quality, reliability, and successful deployment outcomes.
  • Partner with project managers to define project plans, estimate effort, identify risks, and ensure alignment with business objectives and delivery timelines.
  • Communicate project progress, technical challenges, risks, and resolutions to stakeholders, leadership, and cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product teams, business partners, and user experience teams to deliver innovative and customer-focused solutions.
  • Lead teams of 4 to 6 engineers, including offshore resources, by providing technical direction, mentoring, documentation, and ongoing guidance throughout project lifecycles.
  • Define short- and long-term technical solutions, establish milestones, and ensure team alignment with project goals and delivery schedules.
  • Review proposed technical solutions and provide constructive feedback to improve quality, scalability, maintainability, and overall effectiveness.
  • Perform design reviews and code reviews to ensure compliance with architectural standards, best practices, and organizational requirements.
  • Troubleshoot complex production and business issues by assessing impact, identifying root causes, and coordinating resolution efforts across multiple support teams.
  • Develop and execute action plans for incident resolution while monitoring outcomes and implementing preventive measures to reduce future occurrences.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and create detailed technical documentation to support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical support and consultation to business users by addressing questions related to system functionality, technical feasibility, and implementation strategies.
  • Identify and recommend short- and long-term solutions that align with business needs, system capabilities, and strategic objectives.
  • Foster strong cross-functional partnerships to facilitate issue resolution, improve collaboration, and support successful project delivery.
  • Lead project discovery and planning activities by partnering with product management, business stakeholders, project managers, and UX teams to define solution approaches and high-level architectures.
  • Obtain stakeholder alignment and cross-functional approvals to ensure project readiness and successful execution.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and engineering best practices, applying knowledge to improve systems, processes, and team effectiveness.
  • Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to team members, promoting knowledge sharing, professional growth, and engineering excellence.
  • Support the implementation of business solutions by developing strong stakeholder relationships, identifying opportunities for improvement, and driving process enhancements.
  • Monitor project outcomes and operational metrics to measure success, identify improvement opportunities, and optimize solution performance.
  • Adapt effectively to changing business priorities, organizational changes, and evolving customer needs while maintaining focus on delivery commitments.
