About The Position

The Senior Software Engineer will lead the delivery of scoped features and models through collaborative teams, ensuring alignment with platform and business objectives. This role involves designing, developing, testing, and maintaining scalable software solutions using multiple programming languages and modern development practices. The engineer will integrate AI/ML components, conduct code reviews, and support continuous improvement initiatives. Strong technical judgment, effective cross-team collaboration, and a product-driven mindset are essential to drive innovation and deliver high-quality, reliable software that meets stakeholder needs and enhances overall system performance. Our team spans the US and India, developing systems that manage software dependencies across thousands of repositories. We enforce software development lifecycle and security policies in production, automate CI/CD failure diagnosis and remediation using AI and machine learning, and enhance CI/CD experiences. Combining platform engineering, distributed systems, developer experience, AI-driven architecture, security, and compliance, the team focuses on automation, self-service, reliability, and reducing engineering effort at scale. This collaborative environment drives innovation and operational excellence to support Walmart’s technology objectives.

Requirements

  • AI: GenAI, LLMs, agentic, and RAG frameworks for designing, developing, and deploying advanced AI systems and scalable intelligent solutions.
  • Backend: Strong in Java, J2EE, Spring, JVM internals, concurrency, multithreading, service oriented architecture, and RESTful web services.
  • Data: Solid fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, SQL, and relational databases including Postgres, SQL Server, and BigQuery.
  • Distributed systems: Experience with Kafka, Elasticsearch, Python, and scalable, high performance distributed application environments.
  • Frontend: Proficient in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, ReactJS, React Native, Redux, Webpack, and Node.js.
  • Cloud and system design: Hands on cloud deployment experience building scalable, available production systems for applications and services at scale.
  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
