Software Engineer: Product

Generalist•Somerville, MA

About The Position

This is a customer-facing product engineering role with many PM-like responsibilities. The engineer builds applications used by customers, deployment partners, researchers, and internal teams to diagnose, teach, QA, and run robots. About one quarter of the time is spent with customers learning about their use cases and translating them into product requirements, followed by implementing product ideas. The product spans web UIs, APIs, hardware appliances, robot interfaces, and human processes, and the role works across the full stack. The role is responsible for crafting external and internal API interfaces that customers and partners use to access Generalist systems, and for building tools and workflows that enable and accelerate the work of researchers, engineers, and operations partners. This includes the primary web application researchers, operations teams, and deployment teams use to evaluate and train robot models.
